I liked the game! But it had some issues.

I really did like the game. It was animated well, in a fun and enticing way. Although the "launch this thing as far as you can" concept has been used a lot on this site, you really did a good job of making it a bit more interesting, by adding an actual goal (the USA) and by making the character able to defend himself by shooting enemies. Although enemies are few, the game is still interesting because of the subtle differences from other "launch games". I liked the fact that there weren't a bajillion upgrades, so you can actually focus on gameplay.

But it seems there is a major issue with the game's focus on shooting your enemies. You designed the mechanics of the shooting wrong, which is a big detractor from this game. Here are the problems;
A. When the player shoots, the projectile doesn't move freely. How do I explain this... the projectile moves WITH the player. When you shoot the taco or burrito or whatever, it should stay on the original path that you shot it on. But it actually moves forward with the player, making aiming very difficult as you have to predict the path of the bullet AND the path of the mexican dude to get a shot right.
B. Guards can shoot through guards when they are dead, but you can't. This became a problem when I got stuck on the ground behind a dead guard, and a live guard was shooting at me. I couldn't hit him, but he could kill me.
C. Tequila time is useless. I know you meant it to be a sort of "Bullet time" mode, but what's the point? All of the guards shoot in bullet-time when you do. In fact, they all have a better chance of hitting/killing you in tequila-time. In fact, the first time I got to the border was the first time i didn't use tequila time on guards. Besides being used to hit snakes, birds, and targets, it's a hinderance.

If it weren't for those bullet mechanics problems, this would be a nearly perfect launch game. It takes the idea of a launch game and freshens it up. Even the system of launching is different, making the player figure out where to drop the weight. This was a very good effort, and I really enjoyed playing.

.:TIPS FOR PLAYERS:.
To those saying it was "impossible to beat", you can beat it without even upgrading all the way. Here are some tips;
1. When going past guards, DO NOT ENTER TEQUILA TIME. Fly past them as quick as possible so they can't hit you.
2. Hold down the mouse button and aim just to the top left of the little Dinosaur with the sombrero on. When aiming at that spot, I seemed to hit a lot of snakes, guards, birds and targets.
3. Another tip I only realized because I thought there HAD to be some purpose for the rotating function; if you land on your feet (the dark part at the bottom of your legs) you will bounce higher off the ground. By using this method, I was able to get to the border without running out of speed.

Dear lord

What is this I don't even

I can't play it right.

Gee, I really enjoy this game for the five seconds I can play it.
So far, I've tried it on 4 different computers. After a minute or so, it freezes. and not just the game. It freezes the entire internet browser so I have to control+alt+delete (or force quit in the case of a mac). If this only happened on one computer, I wouldnt have such a big problem. Not all computers are fast enough. But I've tried this on four computers, leading it to freeze on macs and pc's, new and old computers, vistas and XP's, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Internet explorer. Honestly? Fix the freezing and I can fix the score.

This isn't a game, and it isn't art.

Look, I know there is this new fad of "art games" on newgrounds. Usually 8-bit, usually ending in some sort of suicide or whatever. They seem to all follow the same depressing themes. But hey, I like them sometimes. They are fun, and they do at least make you think.

But I don't know what this is. It seems like you decided to ride on the wake of the popularity of these "art games" and hoped everyone would see your game as artsy. I'm more disappointed that they fell for it and frontpaged this. This isn't an art game because there is no point. *SPOILER ALERT*(not that there's much to spoil) so, a guy kills his wife or something, and doesn't remember. Okay, that actually seems like maybe a plot for a game. But then you just keep (in a badly animated way) walking until you kill yourself about 5 seconds later. I don't know if I did something wrong, or if there was more to the game that I didn't see, but that's just lazy. It seems like people think any game that ends in suicide has "deep meaning". Well it doesn't.

Pile on some poor artwork (even for 8-bit) and even lazier programming (at one point there is a hill. You can't walk up it, you have to jump up it, because you get stuck. If you can't even program a freaking smooth slope to walk up, I don't get why you made it), some cheesy writing, and you have this game. I mean really? This is a game where you hold down "D" until you fall off a cliff. There is no big deep meaning, there is nothing even original about this "game". I'm tired of people voting "10" on pieces that don't deserve it, just because its "artsy".

God Damn.

That is some fucking amazing music in this game. I swear I'd throw myself off the map a billion times just so I could listen to those sweet jams. Everyone who reads this should give the amazing creator of that music a hug and 5 dollars.

Seriously. I'm poor. And Lonely. Please?

I will blow your mind with my sweet tuneage.
